10 Experiences to Give as Gifts

Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday but gift shopping is definitely not my favorite thing to do.  So, this year for Christmas I've decided to go a different route when it comes to gift giving. "Dear family, you are all getting experiences as gifts this year." YAY! Your probably thinking... what do I mean by experiences? Well, instead of giving a physical item to my family and friends I'll be gifting all of them something they can experience and enjoy in person.

What I love about this idea is that it kills two birds with one stone.  For example, gifting experiences allows me to spend time with my loved ones.  Over the past couple of months I've been extremely busy with multiple jobs, projects and cleaning up the end of the year. This has caused me to neglect my family and friends with the lack of time I've given them. They all understand that I'm just trying to be the next Bill Gates in the making but that doesn't mean that I don't miss them and they don't miss me.  So, experiences as gifts not only require their attendance but mine as well.  Together we will have fun!

The benefit for me is that I don't have to do any shopping!  What you can't see is the electric slide I just did across the room in excitement just now! Seriously, the most I'll have to do is search the internet for the best deal on the perfect experience for the person I'm gifting or it might even require me to pick up a gift card if the person isn't doing the experience with me. No lines, no overspending and no, "Tickle Me Elmo," type out of stock nonsense!

Another great thing about gifting experiences is that these gifts can be much cheaper while more meaningful than a physical gift.  So for example, pull out your Groupon app and you'll see many local deals for only $20.  Plus, there's always a coupon to save even more on your purchases.  I was able to find a movie tickets for only $5!  Bruh, that's cheaper than most fast food meals... Anyway, I've put together a list of 11 experiences for you to purchase a loved one for the holiday season.

1. Room Escape Activity

2. Dinner and a Movie

3. Spa Day

4. Paint Night

5. Cupcake Decorating or Cooking Class

6. Wine Tasting

7. Pizza Tour

8. Karaoke Night

9. Overnight Getaway

10. Museum Day

11. A Play or Theater Show

Remember, when you choose the experience make sure to look for a specific date or time to complete the experience.  For example, going back to Groupon, there may be certain dates your recipient has to redeem their experience or even a specific time frame they must use their Groupon.  You'll want to make sure to have your loved one clear their calendar to take advantage of the gift.  Once you do so, feel free to purchase an experience that can be used well into the New Year.  Nothing would be worst than one or the both of you not being able to make the special occasion!

I can't tell you exactly what I'm getting everyone without ruining the surprise but I can say that most of all, I am excited to just spend time with my loved ones.  For the busy young professionals, I hope this helps your holiday shopping become easy, affordable and thoughtful.

See you at the top,
